Kaleidoscope Peek

color exists

color exists

In a world otherwise devoid of color, I would treasure my kaleidoscope. Yes, it has more than one color. Held against the light, it shows a multitude of colors in ever-changing patterns. Colors tumble toward each other. Red, green, blue, yellow, pink, purple.

“What do those words mean?” someone unfamiliar with colors would ask.

How would I explain the boldness of red or the vibrancy of green? How would I explain the calmness of blue, the perkiness of yellow or the playfulness of pink. Words would hardly explain the richness of purple.

Would I share the vision? Or, would I choose to keep it to myself?

The colors would dull without the shared experience of them. The need to talk to someone about this dimension of the world would drive me to distraction. I would be unable to fully contain the secret.

My search for other kaleidoscope keepers would begin.
