Daily prompt: Someone Else’s Island
It is your best friend’s turn to be stranded on an island. what 5 objects would you send along with him?
I have watched enough seasons of Survivor to know that “fire is life.” So I would certainly send flint along with my best friend to the island where he will (briefly, I hope) be stranded. With fire, he could manage to have safe drinking water and warmth.
Shelter seems to be a big deal too. So another item to send would be a tarp. The people on Survivor seem real happy to have a tarp to keep the rain from soaking their skin.
Survivors also seem to have success with fishing gear including a fishing net, so that is his next item. He will need to get protein for the stay! And fresh fish sounds tasty!
My friend, who happens to be my brother, always says he would need an unlimited supply of contacts and solution. So, that would be his luxury item! (If it was for me, I would choose those glasses that turn into sunglasses in bright light, but this is not about me!)
Finally, I would choose the Ultimate Survival Guide and send along his Wayfinding Bible.
God’s word would provide advice and comfort to his stranded body and soul. I would mark some passages, including Matthew 6:25-28 and Matthew 6:33.
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant a harvest or store food in barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them. And, aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”-Matthew 6:25-28
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”-Matthew 6:33
