Nature Walk-Junco

Junco Again

Junco Again

Today, I start the Seven Days Of Nature Challenge. I am enamoured with all the birds that I have been discovering right in my own backyard.

I am just learning about bird identification. This looks like a slate colored dark-eyed junco to me, based on its mostly grey body, white belly, pinkish beak and dark eyes. I will add it to my list. To see more bird pictures, you can click on the bird header at the top of my page.

I was nominated for the challenge by Desleyjane at Musings of a Frequent Flying Scientist. She takes beautiful macro shots and her nature photos have been great. I would like to ask Miriam at outanabout, if she would like to join us. To participate, just post a nature photo each day for seven days and ask someone else to join in too!

I will likely post a photographic mix of birds, wildlife, flowers and other nature scenes.
Feel free to join in the fun!

  1. I love birds, these tiny feathered creatures who put us humans to shame with their endurance and resiliance against the elements. Even at it’s coldest, they still find the heart to sing. Beautiful.

  2. Beautiful shot Tildy. Such a gorgeous colour too. Thanks for joining in!

  3. That’s a beautiful bird. I’ve not heard of a junco. Are they common? I wondered, because I lived in the USA for a decade and saw many new birds that we don’t have in Australia…but don’t recall this one.

  4. Lovely birds! Nice to see you involved in the nature challenge too.
