Hawk Ouside The Window

Cooper's Hawk

Cooper’s Hawk

LOOK who I had to chase away this morning! I just happened to be doing dishes when it flew up right outside my window! So big! I’ve never seen one up so close before! It is beautiful but too fierce to be around my backyard birds and squirrels and bunnies! I’m glad my yard has so many hiding spots for all the little creatures! I have been watching a hard working squirrel move her babies from nest to nest this week- maybe she had already spotted this hawk and was working to protect them! I want my yard to be their sanctuary!

  1. Fabulous bird, but like you say, not a welcome visitor when there are lttle ones around.
I remember Hubby chasing a magpie off our tit boxes as they were trying to get to the babies inside.

  2. Oh my goodness, Terri! We love to watch the hawks flying overhead but I have never seen one land even close to me–certainly not in my yard. Poor Mrs Squirrel! I am so happy she has been taking care of her babies…this could be scary.

  3. That’s a magnificent bird, but quite a scary-looking one. I’m just glad I’m not a rabbit.

  4. Really good close up photo of the hawk! I see one sometimes land on our back fence. Saw it catch a sparrow, too. Never can get a good photo, though.

    • Thanks. I couldn’t believe how close and still it was! I was scared it would grab some poor creature- I did not want to see that! I know it’s for survival but it would break my heart!
