Cardinal Girl (CYW Mango Tango)

Cardinal Girl

Cardinal Girl

Here is a pretty girl Cardinal that was peeking through the branches of my dogwood tree this weekend. The Cardinal is my state bird. She is not all-red like the male, but has reddish wings and tail feathers. And, look at her bright reddish-orange beak. I’m calling it mango tango for JNW’s Color Your World Photo Challenge! For more bird pictures, you can check out the bird header at the top of my page!

I love the scarlet red feathers, tufted crown and regal pose of this Northern Cardinal!

Autumn Cardinal

Autumn has arrived and the leaves of my dogwood tree are changing. I captured these photos of a beautiful cardinal enjoying a bounty of berries. The cardinal happens to be the state bird of Virginia and the dogwood is our state tree! His bright red feathers are eye-catching, even when surrounded by colorful fall leaves. I was enthralled by his majestic beauty.
