Muddy Water (Flash Fiction)
She needed to see the creek. That is where she always went when she needed to make a decision. She told herself that looking at the flowing water would give her clarity. But on this day, the creek water was as muddy as her thoughts. She knew making the decision would have to wait. She would not be hurried. It was right to wait.
(This post is in response to JNW’s One Word Photo Challenge with the theme of the brown color called Beaver and to the Five Day Challenge that I was invited to participate in by terryb at through the lens of my life..
Today, it seems fitting to invite Jennifer of JNW to take part in the Five Day Challenge since I brazenly tacked this on to her challenge today. Jennifer, I’m sure you must get lots of challenge invites, so if this is not the right time or you have already participated, I certainly understand. If you want to join in, please do. The challenge is to post five photos, one per day, for five days and write a story to go along with each photo. The story can be fiction or non-fiction. It can be a short paragraph, a page or a poem. Each day you select another person to carry on the challenge.
Thank you, Jennifer, for hosting the OWPC! I look forward to it every week.)
