Sonnet of the Robin

Sonnet of The Robin

Fly, Robin fly!
You sing your sweet song
Your notes never wrong
Music fills the sky

Soar, Robin soar!
Take flight tree to tree
Your wings set you free
Fluidity you can’t ignore

The sound waves you send
Floating in the air
Carried on the wind

Pleasure to declare
Songs that you lend
Joy you must share

Apple Butter Elegy

My Momma would have liked it
Autumn apple butter

Apples and spices and sugar
Tart and warm and sweet

Jar still waiting to be opened
Crafted with kindness

Bursting with all the flavors of fall
My Momma would have liked it

My mother passed away just this August and I have been thinking about her and all the things
she would have liked this season. I sure do miss her!

Ode To The Sun

Komorebi

Komorebi

Ode To The Sun

The heat of your affection
Brings warmth to my face
As my heart starts to race

Your light gives direction
Toward you I run
Oh, glorious sun

You brighten my day
You highlight my way
My steps you will map
My flow you will tap
At the point of no return
Destiny to learn

*Komorebi is a Japanese word for sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees

My bassett is hungry for more
Room on the couch he longs for
His pure heart is golden
Forever beholden
He nudges me onto the floor!

Chill

Chill

A brush of wind paints a rosy face. Chilled skin brightens, tightens. Pink cheeks stretch into a smile. Stinging cold is rubbed away before numbness sets. With crisp air, comes clarity. No more heated words, no more furious flush of skin. Cooler thoughts prevail.
